Lioness of Lisabi is an animated musical about the life of Funmi Ransome-Kuti. This fictional account captures Funmi's coming of age and her dramatic arrival at the threshold of leadership. Set in the small busy Western Nigerian town of Abeokuta during the 1920s, it is an eloquent, entertaining, and enlightening celebration of a forgotten heroine in a fictional yet to a large extent, factual and contemporary style. It is designed to interest the mature minded and also to inspire, instruct, and illuminate the minds and lives of children. Notably, Funmilayo was the mother and mentor of the legendary afro-beat creator and political performer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. It is therefore appropriate to use an afro-beat musical theme as the backdrop for this film. |
